A random Update

Darn it i got a pimple on my cheek. I have theorized that its my body's response to the cumulative effect of being awake for too many hours. Its been a busy week, monday I crapped on MSN till the wee hours of the morning 4am. Tuesday i marvelled at the intricacies of the merlion till 7am with my sports camp og. The merlion's having a shower(going through a white wash to remove the stains) at the moment. Wednesday, was Business welfare night. The buffet was a sumptuous spread and a grand affair for my stomach that went a day without food. So once again, we stayed over and slept only at 630am in the morning. Im turning nocturnal and wasting daylight away cuddled in bed isn't a very healthy habit. anyway... Here's a picture of the little red bump of a culprit.

Trogun has been unofficially formed. A verbal agreement has been struck out between the fellow raggers at rag site. Trojan and Shogun have quite a bit of camaraderie and common points of agreement regarding a certain staple food. *COT* LOL. Basically, just trying to make the place a little livelier and merrier.

I nearly fell into a hibernation style slumber during rag dance practice yesterday. I shall stop talking about sleep, else the reader gets a little too obsessed with it too. Yawning is contagious, so reading about sleep probably is as well.

We have finally learnt all 3 parts of the dance for the rag presentation. I am so relieved. Thankfully, i can do cartwheels. So Yvonne and I can skip some very complicated lifts. Yvonne's my dance partner btw and she's really light. A lady's weight is a secret so I shall leave it as one. Imagine my surprise when i learnt some people can't do cartwheels. I have always had the impression that cartwheels are something that one can do from young. Did my first ever when i was 6 yrs old. Haha, such fun cartwheeling and spinning myself around the house when i was a kid. Always ended up dizzy, saw stars and landed on my bum. I once destroyed my bed doing somersaults on it. The wooden stands the bed was on gave way to a loud crash, very shocked parents, and a very red butt(mine)... duh. After that harrowing experience, I stopped jumping on beds for quite a while. A week to be exact. The caning made me a wiser boy and i decided my parents bed was a better choice, King Koils are built for a reason. =)

I had a discussion with some people recently about how fortunate I was that I don't have wisdom tooths. Maybe its bad karma or too much calcium, I felt an ache about 3 days ago at the top end of my jaw right at the molars. Rawr, I hope, my jaws are large enough to accomodate them, they come at totally the wrong time. They should have grown when i was still under the service of the SAF. Free removal! Hopefully, I'll grow wiser with them, otherwise I'll have to pay to get them extracted. Parting with both tooth and money is really a heartbreaking affair plus there's no such thing as a tooth fairy to compensate me.

Today was spent snuggled in bed procrastinating about calling companies for the bazaar. Had a subway sandwich for lunch. I took a bus ride to jurong point to satisfy my cravings for it. I'm pretty amazed by the efforts I put in to satisfy my ever hungry stomach. Got myself too full after the meal, so i rushed home and settled myself in bed promising to wake at 3pm to do the calling. Well, the alarm rang, I extended my sleep to 330pm, it rang again, I extended it to 4pm. Finally, I knew I had to do some work. Did call 2 companies in the end. Hopefully, they'll give a positive response next week when i ring them up.

Watched Liverpool in a friendly against Portsmouth. They still look the same to me, all the good stuff but still no end product. They lost the Barclays Asia trophy to penaltys. Hopefully they'll improve when the season starts. Caught a brief glimpse of Felicia Chin during the halftime break on the 9pm chinese show on tv. O M G, She is so pretty!

Well, thats all for tonight.

Waiting for our Premier League drought to end. Liverpool forever.

Trojan Trip down Boat Quay - 19/7

We had a trojan outing on thurs, 19 July 07. Went for a haircut with Shen in the afternoon. There goes my retro look, I'm still feeling a little uncomfortable with my new modern and funky hairdo. It requires maintenance and me the ever apathetic lazy bum can never find the energy to go style my hair everyday. I belong to the camp where the hair should be ready to meet the world once it leave my pillow. So uh, somebody buy me a cap. =)

Goodbye Retro Hair

Trojan was re-aquianted at 630pm, well some were late due to work commitments or sleeping ones. Our dear klar well she had a sleeping one. So she missed out on the Haldhi Indian Experience. Now, I'm gonna complain, The Haldhi Indian restaurant voucher is so misleading. It doesn't state that it can only be used alone. We were all under the impression that it was a cash voucher and a free meal was awaiting us. So the mood was markedly subdued when the waiter led us to our tables.

Trojan Boys and Girls

Our dinner comprised of a platter of mixed meats, naan and super expensive curry. A bowl of mutton curry cost 16 bucks. Its just a little thicker than your standard roti prata curry. Rawr, roti prata curry is free. Well, the whole package of riverside dining, the ambience and the chance to soak up the Indian culture probably made the price a little steep. It was quite hilarious that we had candles on the table but they were permanently un-lit as the fan was blowing right on it everytime.

Dinner was savoured and the food was quite splendid. First time I've ever had a meal at an Indian restaurant, Indian cuisines taste great especially with the spices they used to jazz up their food. I tried to drink as much of the free icewater as I could to make my moneys worth. lol.

Next up was my maiden journey to Minds Cafe. I was wondering about the hype a boardgames cafe could generate. I wasn't disappointed. We played Jenga, got my ears totally destroyed by screaming girls. Klar finally came to join us around 9pm. Yay! Had more fun with Ugly Ugly Ugly and the dinosaur bone game. Woo hoo. Took lots of photos for memories sake.

Some girl was doing a forfeit and she had to take a photo with me haha...

Some of us parted ways after the events at boat quay. The rest of us went to the rag site for a night of no sleep, lame games, 24 and truth and truth. Had some phototaking sessions. What's a night out without Photos.

Alright, I'm done here. Till next time, Cheerios. =)

Darn It

Super pissed! Now I understand the plight of most adult Singaporeans who drive and worry about that parking attendant. I earned my very first parking ticket today. Its exactly 1 year 1 month and 1 week after i got my driving license. Usually Im not one for superstitions, but it bothers me that the date and timing of it is so coincidental and intriguing. Maybe its a sign I should buy 4D.

Well, good luck to myself. Hopefully the Singapore govt can help me absorb the fine. I'm off to cool my steaming head and reflect on the efficiency of Singapore's parking regulatory system.

60 hours

Woke up at 10am on the 16/7 and went for rag. Its the usual 4 again until candice made her grand arrival at 430pm. We all had our own schedules and itineries to follow so it was a short rag adventure that lasted till 6pm.

rag's boring thats why they need clowns like me

6pm --> bye rag site(looks like hail the rag site)

Next up was bella's birthday surprise. 18/07/2007 -->

Bella with Her Birthday present.
Happy 21st Birthday Bella!

It was supposed to be a wonderful and pleasant surprise for our birthday girl. But we ended up becoming the surprised personnels instead. The plan was for her to meet a few of us for dinner while the everyoneelse waited at the restaurant. However, when we were all at orchard awaiting her grand arrival but she called us at the last min to say she was very tired and was going home. Eh oops. A birthday surprise without the presence of the birthday girl. Stunned and Shocked! We went bollocks. Well, we threw the plan out of the window and demanded she made her way down.

Daniel did the demanding. Lol.

So in the mean time, we had dinner at taka's food court. Randomly, I actually realised that there's a lot of japanese food stalls at the food court of taka. Consuming japanese noodles with egg and some sauce was insufficient so I had to buy the rice with some meat on sticks thing. Felt like a stuffed pig after that much food. But food's a neccessity, so I never say never to it.

Bought pomegranate tea. Its a new juice tea from Pokka. It has a nice fragrance, taste like pomegranate(not really a fruit gourmet so i don't really know how to describe it). Well, anyway Life did a short introduction to pomegranate recently, and studies suggest it may contain up to 3 times the antioxidant ability compared to green tea or red wine. They also almost match banana's in terms of potassium value. Grandma used to have a pomegranate plant. That was when I was in primary school. Used to eat one every few weeks, when the plant bore fruit. It was a delightful and savoury experience. If you have never had a chance to eat pomegranate before, pomegranate is a very unique fruit. It has lots of seeds in each fruit. Each seed is covered by a juicy pip that slightly hard and munchy. Thats the part which is eaten. Sweet. =)

Pomegranate Fruit =)

Ok, moving on, our dear Bella finally came. haha, We went Starbucks cafe to chill out and chat. Then it was good byes everyone. Except for Cong, Dan and me. Haha we had other plans.

Travins Likes me too much...

17/07 - Mahjong time. Darn, Its becoming a major hobby. It exercises the brain though so I have blood oxidising it at a faster rate. Hopefully, I get smarter with all the brain exercise. It was a super long session. Argh, lasted till 6am in the morning. At least we didn't have to pay the midnight surcharge when we took a cab home. Arrived home at 645am. I greeted my parents and sister good morning at the door. Oops =X That was quite an interesting scenario.

Had a short 1 hour nap till 9am. Surprisingly, Mr Travins Cheung called and woke me up. Normally I'm his alarm clock and I was supposed to be the one calling him in the morning. Dragged my sleepy ass to soccer. Yes, I'm totally retarded forsaking sleep for soccer. Well, football's one of the love of my life. Had a good runout/workout till 1pm.

2pm - Rag dance practice was next. My very first rag dance practice. I'm totally zonked out already. O M G the dance moves drove me nuts. I took quite a long time to get my hands and legs to move in the right way. The dance looks quite fascinating, and the tempo of the dance makes it really exciting, but I'm still figuring how to make my old bones move that fast.

9pm - took bus 30 home. Fell asleep from the start of the bus journey. Thank you SBS for the direct bus home.

10pm. Landed myself in bed. Bed sweet bed. Its the 18/07. Amazingly i woke up at 1230pm. Had lunch which was a wholesome spread of tuna, lettuce, cheese and egg. Washed it down with soya milk. Then it was bed sweet bed again. I think i'm becoming a pig. Woke up and its dinner time. And here I am typing this entry.

Having a pigging good time right now.

12 July 07

The Fantastic 4

Rag was a relatively lonely affair today. 6 Freshies came down for it. Thankfully, 4 were from trojan(Shen, Wan Qing, Ming Hui and me).

Photowhoring was the main attraction of the day again. Considering that there weren't any other engaging activities we could participate in, we became quite engrossed and compelled to take photos of ourselves. Memories can be such fickle buddies. They often leave you stranded, when you seek them. Photos can provide the window for us to reach back to them since they capture significant moments in time and create a permanent imprint of that instant. Seriously, photowhoring is a very healthy activity that people should all partake in. alright alright, i'm just trying to justify myself. haha.

Wan Qing wanted to see her King Edward Hall. So I led them up a shuttle bus which I thought would lead us to it. Took them all for an orientation around the whole campus. Aren't you all grateful? I'm sure you all(wq, shen, mh) loved the roundabout trip right. =P oops, i'm just trying to justify my mistake. haha. Honestly, I had no idea we took the bus on the wrong side. But hey, at least the mistake was made now instead of during the school term when you could be late for lessons. As the saying goes, we can always look at a glass as half full or half empty, its how you view the positives. That matters most. Well, after some 25mins, we successfully navigated our way to the hall. Looks quite ulu and a little old. Oh, wq I think I heard rumours of peeping toms there? lol. So remember to lock your doors ya, security security. Well, hope you find your ideal guy there.

PGPR
Next we took a stroll to Prince George's Park residence. Nus's very own condominium style residence. The architectural design of the residence looks really solid and modern. There's also quite an excellent view of the port if you live at a high level. Unfortunately, the interior designing leaves much to be desired from the opinions of the seniors. Back to our adventure,We wanted to take the lift up to the highest floor but needed a key card or something. We entered the lift and went to the 1st floor and Basement like 4 times. Finally, when we were quite dejected at our failure to make the lift go up, some saint on the 7th floor took pity on us and press the lift. Thank you very much. LOL. We took in the fresh air when we got to that level. Hey its the highest I've ever went to in the NUS campus, and I thought the air was distinctly sweeter? I live on the 18th floor of a HDB apartment. So I'm not being a nub head.

Cool, mature idiot

We were supposed to be ragging, but our adventure took up around an hour and a half. All of us have a procrastinating lazy bone built inside our human genome. After loads of photos(eg. some scandalous ones of some people) We grudgingly dragged ourselves back to the ragsite to provide our significant contribution to the rag cause. =)

Advertising coke in the unemployment box

Pasted an entire side of the house float with white paper. We also cut lots of mini cardboards for pasting on bottlecaps. Had to use contact glue for that. urgh... Glue sniffing, think my IQ just went down by a few points.
The entire day was peppered with some very enlightening conversations. I think my reputation just went from zero to negative? Wq says I look like an Ah gong in my new specs. Mature and serious should be more like it right? Please say you agree. Somehow, i generated a lot of comments which I presume don't really portray me in a very positive light. LOL. They were hilarious though. I shall keep them within the circle. If you're really curious, ok they just said I'm an innocent young man who can stand on his own two feet and drink lots of coke(that was totally random).

Had so many cakes. First up was a piece of carrot cake and chocolate cake. That was during lunch. Considering that it was $2.50 per piece, I thought it was bad. The cake was dry, crumbly and almost everything a cake isn't supposed to be. It still tasted sweet though. Ok, the cupcakes I made before were worsed as they turned out like cookies. Haha, thats for another time though. Then we had Black Forest Cake from ShanGri-la hotel. Thanks Pauline(boss), she just came back from Hong Kong and won the tennis tournament there. Woah, zhai! Sinful sinful. Dinner was LJS. Fried Food!

Watched videos of the senior project for one of the modules. They tickled my funny bone. Then there was the Indian Spoof of Michael Jackson's MTV. "girly man" ROFL. Played bridge and took photos with Kai Shi. Haha, she keeps nagging at me that I couldn't recognise her the other time. My reputation just keeps going down. lol.

2 retards

Ok, 830pm. Time to go home. Mr Kevin Wong, led us up the wrong bus 188. Haha, took us to Imm instead. At least I led people up the wrong internal shuttle bus not the public one. The trip was comical, so it wasn't that bad. As long as the company's right, all trips are definitely enjoyable. Took a long stroll back to Jurong east mrt.

Finally arrived home at 930pm. Felt the guilt of the cakes and the food i ate, so I went for a night run. The cool night breeze really refreshes the body. Went for a 5km run. Felt really happy after that. Woo hoo.

On a sad note, I felt very upset when I heard about the lady who passed away giving birth to twins. A joyful event was marred by such misfortune. The children will never have the opportunity to feel the warmth and love of thier mother's embrace. The father must be totally broken. Hopefully, the human spirit of determination and courage will triumph in this time of adversity for this family. Life comes and goes, we should all accept that. The timing of it however can totally disrupt its natural progress. Hurtling the affected parties into a whirlwind of change that often creates a blackhole that they struggle to fill. I shall offer a minute of silence to reflect on this. I hope you would take a minute out of your busy schedule and do it too.

Ok, cheerios. May we all live an enriching and fulfilling life. Say no to drugs. =)

Of Karaoke and Rag

Had a Trojan OG outing on Monday. The third time I've ever step into a karaoke room. It was a fascinating experience. Especially with people dumping the mic at me for songs that I've never heard of. The only chinese songs that i know How to sing are by Jay Chou. We sang the hokkien song "if I had a hundred million"(hokkien to english translation) , that was hilarious and i enjoyed it tremendously.

Anyway Shen did a wonderfully superb job typing out the whole event including rag. So I'm just gonna be a lazy pig, save my brain cells and link her post here. Wahaha. Anyway, the post is only 95% factually correct. Please censor it accordingly.

Most importantly, *** ---> Boy.

Once again, thanks Shen! =P Lol.

P.S. I'm still pondering how i got convinced to become a performer for rag, that i have psycho motor problems is beyong dispute. I think i'm in deep trouble. oops....

Well, thats it for today, Nights all.

Sports Camp Ah Lian

I've been tortured by the sleep monster since the start of july. Sleep has been a privilege and well I chose to forgo sleep for the sake of fun and friendship. I went to NUS sports camp from 2/7 to 7/7. Had a blast of a time, thanks to all the guys(Elijah, Nicholas, Yong Shen, Siang Yuan, Shi Qian,Calvin) in my og who are tau pok/strip crazy and the girls(Jocelyn, Cindi, Jill, Vanessa, Anabelle, Chun Li, Yue Yun) who were all such good sports. Not forgetting to mention the OGL and counsellors(Hui Xiang, Wei De, Bao Ting, Qing Yun) who were also really happening and made the Og super lively.

Day 0
The bringing together of an OG, a group of strangers(ok I knew Siang Yuan) congregated by sports camp to form up friendships that I hope can last for a long time. We met up at Changing Appetites for Dinner. Many were late, I was as well LoL. We had a chat and I was quite surprised at the number of people going to Biz. Including me that makes 4. Haha, uber cool. Following dinner was a briefing near the esplanade. We played some ice breaking games, like goggles and eee hah. It wasn't that exciting, and one would never predict how crazy we would go over those games in camp. I'll save the description for later. We learnt some cheers. My house is like so Cheena and chinese gang style. Called Bai Lian Jiao. "Xiao Bai, Ah Lian, Lao Jiao", my og was the middle one. Unbelievable would be how i would describe the atmosphere, we were shouting cheers as though camp had already started.

Day 1
The start of Sports camp. Woo hoo, I lugged my heavy luggage as though I was going on a 2 week vacation. I didn't really pack my bags properly as I didn't have the time. Exhaustion and frustration plagued me the previous night after trying to drive home from orchard. I took the wrong turn and ended up at novena instead of CTE. Argh, should have worn my specs. Couldn't see the road signs. Arriving home at 11pm, , I packed my bags with alacrity, completing the task in 10 mins. Dumped all the clothes and stuff for camp I thought was necessary and then plonked myself in bed. We had pool games. That was pretty wet. Next up was martial arts display after dinner. haha, had to act as the pervert and let girls throw me around, break my arms and hands. Not exactly a very nice experience. Moral of the story: never be a pervert(especially when the girl knows martial arts, or can kick as high as Anabelle.) Played telegames after the display. Had to travel around campus. The activities were really happening fast and furious. We played games, with water bombs, paint brushes, candles. Played tissue volleyball as well, and they all call me the "sucker!" LOL. SP came next. Sports camp is sponsored by SDU and it seems no camp can go on without an SP session. Speed and blind dating at the same time, how kinky can it get.

Day 2
Yippee! ECP. Tried rollerblading for the first time in my life. Exasperation and exhilaration, the fear and the thrill. A great sport, at least now I can move on wheels without falling. It was a short half an hour session. Frisbee came up next, great cardio workout playing ultimate. Had a go at windsurfing and I concluded my sense of balance equals 0/10. Couldn't even manage to get myself to stand on the windsurf board without falling. Fell like 10 times. I'm quite glad with the intervals as well. Got the opportunity to learn several lame stupid games I would never have known the answer to like MRT, Fuzzy wazzy etc. Tried dragon boat, canoeing and we even had about half an hour in the cage for soccer. I was really impressed by Dragon boat and got really tempted to join, the adrenaline of racing really makes me high. However I reckon my schedule doesn't permit, not gonna give up my weekend soccer for dragon boat. Had mass dance at night. I totally sucked. Couldn't remember the steps, had psycho-motor problems - it was just totally hilarious. Our Og's representative "Anabelle and Yong Shen" were superb, they got a perfect 10 from all the judges for the dance performance segment. So proud of them.

Day 3
Sentosa. Yea! you know the beach games, the beach babes, the sun the sand and the sea. We had sock pulling, dodge ball, kiss kiss( like hei bai pei), relays and the sponge squeezing game. Had to place a sponge in between a guy and girl and bring it up to shore and squeeze the water. Had some very interesting poses for that to earn bonus points. Haha. SP Night came up next, learnt who my SP was(Eileen). Then came Mystery night, just another name for fright night. They rented this dilapidated house in Sentosa for it. Overall I'm quite impressed by the effort they put in. Had a few heart in my mouth moments. Eileen was quite brave. Haha though she screamed a few times. lol. Thankfully, I was the forth pair to go for the trip through the "haunted house". There were like 50 pairs and the rest were stuck in a room watching movies like "epic movie and 40 yr old virgin". So boring.... Finally went back to camp at 2am in the morning.

Day 4
Land games in the morning. The rain sorta brought a halt to outdoor activites. But thankfully, I had a try at Archery an exotic sport I was often intrigued with. Definitely not an easy sport to take up, takes a lot of skill and practice. Talent probably also counts. Well, I have none of the 3 so I didn't hit any bulls eye. Glad that I even managed to get the arrows on the board. The Amazing race was in my opinion the highlight of the camp. We got really high on our travels. Played eee har, R O C K Rock on trains and buses and got a lot of stares and giggles. Went around singapore for amazing race, Bottlenecks spoilt the fun a little thou. We went to clementi for rock climbing. Snowcity was madness. The guys did a cheer half naked inside the snow city chamber. It was like -6degrees celsius. Brrrr... Freezing high! haha Had duck rice for dinner at jurong east. Nostalgic memories, once upon a time, some 4 years ago, I had duck rice there. River Valley High was near Jurong east back then so It was a regular hangout. Duck rice was one of the better dishes around. Shooting the air rifle was something new though not as intimidating as the first time I had my hands on an M16. Had to make our way down to ECP for the urban challenge(Night Cycling). It was a long ride on the train. Played games and just went crazy. Nicholas pasted his face against the train door at city hall and got a few laughs and stares. LOL.

Day 5
Urban challenge! We went to 5 places. Cycled to suntec for K box. Kbox sponsored Sports camp so we went in to sing 2 songs. Then we went to the esplanade, the supreme court, ROM, and then geylang for some you tiao and dou hua. Slept in a ballroom. The whole place sorta stunk cos many didn't bath. yours truly included. Morning came, Cable sking time. That was fantabulous. Tried the kneeboard. Skimming on water at high speed is excellent. Definitely gonna try it again soon. Next up, we went cineleisure for some motorcross action. Had the best lunch for the whole week at The Steakhouse. I must compliment the food at sports camp, its actually quite good. Plus Hula sponsored mulberry bottled drinks. Tastes like ribena. I downed bottles of them every meal and every break that explains the sugar rush. Went back to sembawang(my home for a bout 2 years of my life- that was some hell), SAF yatch club for some banana boat action. Didn't get to ride though due to time constraints. Took a cab down at 6pm to queenstown swimming complex to jump the 5m platform.. Wheeeeee. Haha. Fun. Had the Pyjamas party at night. That was something really new. the place was a little overcrowded and warm. The pageant was a little boring as well. Anw, Elijah from my og won Mr Sports Camp. No surprise there. We danced a bit on stage and had fun playing some dancing game that took up about an hour plus. Went Fong Seng for supper in our PJs, a lot of the public were like looking at us with entralled skeptical glances. Played truth or truth till 6am in the morning....

Day 6
Alrighty, last day of camp, Trying desparately hard not to close my eyes and fall asleep at the slightest chance of rest. Couldn't even stand properly without thoughts of sleeping. Did mural painting, Tug of war, Pushed a big ball haha, that was dumb. I was fighting the zzzz monster half the time when it wasn't my turn to have a go at the ropes or ball. We had lunch at 4pm at Vivo Marche. The end of a frantic 6 days of sleep deprivation, Taupok and self induced highs. This post was really quite tiring to type. Its super long. I'll add more photos when i get them. Till next time. Eugene.

P.S. To satisfy all the critics who say I'm destroying their eyesight. I increased my font size.
