Reminiscing the Past

29 June 2007, another period of my life draws to a close. Nostalgic memories both sweet and sad flood my senses as i give time to reflection. Have you ever given a penchant of consideration to how time has such a warped effect on our mental interpretation. Recollections happen on an accelerated timeline, everything in the past from birth to present can flash through your brain in a matter of seconds. While the present can drag for what seems an eternity. That was exactly how mixed up I felt on my last day of work. I couldn't wait to be free of working life, but yet i could feel the tinge of sadness tugging at my skin.

The past four months at GYC Financial Advisory has been a wonderful experience of how dull and exciting working life can be. I can still remember what a bundle of nervous energy I was when i stepped into that elevator and went to the 44th floor of OUB Centre for my first day at work. I was shown to my desk promptly upon meeting my boss for the 2nd time. The first was the interview, and to be honest, I wasn't too impressed by the job requirements. Cold calls were really not my cup of tea(like who likes that), but the pay, its all about the pay. That was convincing enough. So from then on I became a Personal Assistant. Well, my NDU mates call me Toy Boy Chong starting from the day I told them I had a Lady boss. Haha.

It was relatively mundane for the first couple of weeks. I had to clear like stacks and stacks of backlog(scanning etc). Basically i was the only temp around, and being like the youngest at 20. There was just an age gap for me to actually start any kind of decent conversation with anyone. Discussing about lunch isn't really the most engaging and lively topic of conversation one can have for long.

I've got to admit, I don't have green fingers and I tend to kill plants under my jurisdiction of care. I'm supposed to water my boss's plant and ensure it doesn't wither and die a horrendous death. I failed miserably. The picture says it all. LOL.

Following lots of calls to both potential and current clients, rebalancing, insurance summaries and investment profiles. I've grown into my job like a fish to water. Its actually a relatively relaxing job coupled with stressful peaks. My boss comes to work only in the afternoons. Sometimes not at all. Thats when I surf the web, read articles, watch videos on youtube and msn like there's no tmr. If you think thats fun, try doing that for days in a row. The birth of this blog was no spur of the moment. It was inspired by the boredom of having nothing to do when my boss went to Japan for holiday. Then there's the spikes of work where I end up going home at 7pm. Bossie tends to have a very irritating habit of coming into the office at 5pm and throwing me a stack of work requesting completion before I leave the office. I can't complain since I haven't exactly been doing anything for the whole day.

By now, you must be convinced I'm actually quite stupid to be quitting this job. Everyone's entitled to their own ideals. I'm just going to satisfy myself with the little things in life for the month of July. Waking any time I want, playing and getting my state of mind healthy and fresh in preparation for school again. The last is exciting, except I'm not really looking forward to exams again. Well the first week of July is going to be totally sports, since I'm attending Sports camp. Wahaha. I'm so hyper, I can't wait for it to start. The bad thing about office jobs is how the food intake seems to increase exponentially, make your metabolism go limbo and encourage the fats to nestle happily in those nooks and crannies they're not supposed to be in.

I'm gonna miss the friends I made there. Hui Wen, Naz, Chee Han, Selina, Cindy, My Boss. Haha, Take care you all.

Had to work till 10pm today on my last day. Cos there was an investment seminar going on. The food there was excellent and I literally pigged out there. Bothered by a great sense of guilt for all the food i had. I did a crazy thing and went for a run at 1130pm. It was actually quite refreshing, considering that it just rained and the weather was really cooling.

Alright enough of my crap. Gonna go sleep. But before I do that. Can somebody tell me what happens when An Irresistable Force meets an Immovable Object?

Brunch and Lunch

I really love the croissan'wich breakfast at Burger King. In fact I've been having secret brunches instead of lunches while at work for the past 3 weeks. Shh... Don't tell my boss.

The Croissan'wich is a soft, buttery and crispy bun with a filling that includes a bouncy egg omelette, salty saliva inducing turkey ham and cheese. I wanna get another already. Most importantly, the serving is small, I reckon its the smallest burger you can find in Burger King(technically its a sandwich, but its sold in Burger King so its a burger). Its the smartest marketing ploy you can employ because it taste so good, one is never enough. Its expensive, but definitely worth the expense for the delight it brings to my taste buds. I think i sound like a greedy pig. Anyway, I started thinking about it at around 10am. I tried to resist the temptations, physical(my stomach was groaning because i only had ribena for breakfast) and emotional(my head kept telling me I had to have one). I succumbed to gluttony at 1030am, and made my way to Burger King at OUB Centre for Brunch...

Its 2pm and like i said that croissan'wich meal was small. Very small. So i'm hungry again. After surfing some sites and looking at ice cream. I had a sudden craving for one. So I went down to Yami yogurt to get myself a peach flavoured snack. Got myself a JUMBO cup. I ate it all alone.
Alright, enough of blogging, got to go give my sister tuition.

Update for The week

Alright! Here's my update. Got to satisfy all my die hard fans out there. A disgruntled lot doesn't make a happy blogging environment.

Its been a busy week. I went for Biz camp and came back with panda eyes. Its been a long time since I went with so little sleep for 4 days. It was fun and I got to know lots of nice friendly people from NUS Biz. Trojan rawks yeah. Hope we can all keep in contact. Anyway, it was just kinda weird to be in an environment where the girls outnumber the guys like 4 to 1. Haha, I pretty much spent the last two years stuck in an all male environment so well you know. Wahhaa... thats laughter sounds wrong, but wth, wahaha.

Ok, first day wasn't a pleasant experience. Firstly, I wore my most expensive berms, laid in the mud and rolled. Secondly, i was simply brilliant when I smeared my face and arms with paint and realised i forgot to take my t shirt off and got that tshirt all muddy as well. Should have just wore Number 4 lah. The washing up at the tap was cool uh quite literally. Spent a good part of the night blindfolded.... Had a long chat with a "blind date". LOL. Maybe thats how they came up with the phrase blind date. Following the SP night, was fright night. It was an awfully long wait in blindfolds. So the excitement sorta died down. Slept at 3am...

Second day, Yea! We went to sentosa. So uh Sun, Sand Sea. A not so pleasant reminder of NS life. Alright it wasn't that bad. Had a lot of fun throwing water bombs and dunking people. Ok, gonna fast forward and skip the boring stuff. Night finally came. Had to put on that blindfold stuff again. Argh, stupid sandflies spoil dates. haha. Now my leg itches like crazy...
Thanks to dunno who, i got chosen with wan jun to go Old changi general hospital. Took a lorry there. Like how apt. Anw, it wasn't creepy or anything. A bunch of little ah bengs liven up the place and made it sound like K box or something. Got back at 3am and learned the rest of the OG had supper, made my stomach very unhappy! I was starving because the catered food was actually quite horrible. Its like combat ration - cabbage rice all over again. Like UCK! So i ate like a few bites and exiled the rest of it to the rubbish. Slept at 4am.

Third day! Pool games. Means a lot of water. I'll leave it to your imagination.
3pm - SP tekan session. Ok, haha, had to do this awfully gay show with TObey... lol. First there was the pocky stick. Then the i Gallop. Then i had to find M & Ms on a plate filled with whipped cream (nice), chilli sauce(nice). Both together(Yuck!). Thats not the worst, they put the plate on Tobey's lap. And yea well.. you know. Tobey had it easy lah, that Nub... Kept trying to serenade the girls with his voice and escape all that disgusting stuff i had to do. Went DXO, wasn't very interesting there so im gonna skip it. 3am on the forth day, we haven't slept yet cos we were practicing our skit. We had a run around the campus! How cool is that, exercise in the early morning. Next was this traditional ritual performance done by the seniors. It was very animated and forceful and i was awestrucked. Watched it with my mouth fully open and my eyes half closed. A very intense experience, especially since it was 430am in the morning.

Ok finally 4th day. Are you falling asleep yet? I know this post is boring so I must commend you if you're reading still reading this. I was walking around half asleep back then. WTF I can't imagine how I'm going to survive sports camp. 6d5n, i must be mad to register for it. More talks.... Skits... Somehow, I found myself on stage dancing with a firehose. I wasn't dreaming. Ok they were choosing like best male freshie at camp, then we had to dance with a firehose. Thanks to Jian Wei, my performance just got a whole lot more interesting. For those who were there, you know what happened lah. Those who didn't... Too bad!

Oh and it was absolutely amazing the number of fake freshies there were in my OG group. Haha, Really, kenna cheated. Not once but thrice. Tom and Wan Jun really crafty lah, one year 4 already. The other graduate somemore. Plus, my SP from NTU accountancy. Haha, HeartBroken... Will somebody please offer me a tissue.
Kidding...

Reach home, sleep and sleep and sleep. Attended Jason's birthday party on saturday evening.

Sunday is sports day, haha soccer in the morning. Tennis in the evening. Finally resurrected my tennis career.

Somebody give me some photos to liven up this entry PLS!

Snore...

Crocs And Ba Zhang on a rainy Sunday

I woke up today to the sound of splashing raindrops and a desperate attempt to close my window before my computer had an opportunity to get a most unwanted shower.

Sundays are supposed to be sunny(why call it SUNday then?), not overcast with dark clouds and pouring with rain.

After doing what was necessary, I sent my lazy ass back to bed with aplomb since the weather was really fine for sleeping. Just when i was getting into lala land, the air started smelling funny and white smoke started engulfing my HDB block. Fire on a rainy day would have been quite an irony, but thankfully it was just the friendly National Environment Agency doing Mosquito Fumigation. Lots of white fumes = Weird smell, dead mosquitoes and a pissed off me.

Played soccer in the rain, it was a comedy with everyone falling on their asses because of all the pools of water on the court.

I finally got the Crocs Slip-On Sandals(Sorbek), I've had my eyes on since last month. They're bouncy, comfy, airy and Made in China. You hereby have my permission to call me an irrational consumer whose perception of value is totally subjugated to peer and media influence.

I Love My Crocs

I got home and found Ba Zhangs hanging in my kitchen. My grandma and my parents spent the whole weekend preparing the ingredients, cooking them and finally wrapping them up. So that it can end up in my tummy. Wahaha. Ok that sounds wrong. But im really grateful for the food.

Ok, im off to satisfy my hunger, Tata!

View from a Toilet

You don't want to leave a toilet when the view is that good

Happy Birthday to my Driving License!

It was exactly a year and a day ago when i was inside this honda civic taking the test that made me nervous beyond measure. I turned the ignition key and the car purred into life.

My tester was a feisty and irritable old man, and he smelled of cigarette smoke. I ought to have wind down the window and told him in his face that he stank and i needed the fresh air. Fortunately i didn't do that otherwise i wouldn't have witnessed the birth of my driving license on the 14 june 2006.

It actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise that my tester was quite pissed off with his day(although it was only 10am in the morning). He didn't even bother to let me drive through the entire test route, I went out for a little spin on Bukit Batok Road, did a U turn and i knew i had passed when he told me to go straight back to the Driving centre. I could tell he needed another smoke to clear his system of the clean air coming out from the air conditioner.

I had this really impish grin on the drive back (when you force yourself to quit smiling but can't, you know its the endorphines(is that correct?) in overdrive. ) So the most hilarious thing happened at the traffic light junction when i looked at the tester on the way back(I was still grinning like an idiot). Grumpy old man gave me the look and said nonchalantly, "So happy ar, later I fail you then you know." My balls were in my mouth, they practically flew.

Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY driving license and Bye bye P plate!
Cheers

Oooh Sweet KIWI

I got a new favourite song after Casey's enlightening description about its lyrics. Wahaha.
Definition of a KIWI: Hairy, green on the inside, juicy and sweet.

Maroon 5 had other ideas --->

Album: It Wouldn't Be Soon Before Long
Title: Kiwi
You’re such a flirt, I know you hurt
And so do I, I empathize
I see you out, you never cared
A conversation that we never shared

But it’s so strange, it’s something new
Amazing feelings that I have for you
I close my eyes when I’m alone
Wonder what it’d be like to make you moan
I wanna give you something better
Than anything you’ve ever had
A stronger and a faster lover
The world, it disappears so fast
Sweet Kiwi
Your juices dripping down my chin
So please, let me
Don’t stop it before it begins
So give it up, and don’t pretend
And spread your arms and legs across the bed
And when you shake, you won’t regret
The things I whisper in your ear
(What?) I said:
I wanna give you something better
(You wanna give me something better)
Than anything you’ve ever had
(Than anything I’ve ever had)
A stronger and a faster lover
(A stronger and a faster lover)
The world, it disappears so fast
(It disappears so fast)
Sweet kiwi
Your juices dripping down my chin
So please, let me
Don’t stop it before it begins
I can’t wait to take you home
Fingers through your hair
Kisses on your back
Scratch me with your nails
Save me from myself
Show me how to care
Get everything out
Dripping everywhere
Lipstick smeared all over your face
How much longer must we wait?
Don’t think that I can wait
Sweet kiwi
Your juices dripping down my chin
So please, let me
Don’t stop it before it begins (hey, yeh)
Sweet kiwi
(wanna give you something better than this)
Your juices dripping down my chin (hey, yeh)
So please, let me (wanna give you something better than this)
Don’t stop it before it begins
Don’t stop it before it begins

Don't mess with Cows!

Did you know cows belong to the mafia? That explains why when you mess with one of them, the whole gang comes with guns(ok horns).

I was surfing through youtube this morning to pass the time. Its really boring when you have absolutely nothing to do at work. (not that I'm complaining) In this epic movie, Battle Of Kruger, The Lions and the crocs ordered breakfast, but they forgot to kill the cow. Haha. The rescue effort put in by the mafia was exciting and took a lot of balls(Bulls)..

Check the vid out at youtube.
Time to knock off, I'm gonna go get myself some beef for dinner.
